Chattanooga Black-Owned Art Gallery Keeody Celebrates Emerging Basquiat-Inspired Artist with Welcoming Reception and Showcase as Part of a Push to Give More Artist Exposure During the Pandemic
CHATTANOOGA, TN, February 13, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ — Downtown’s newest art venue, KEEODY Gallery, will is scheduled to host an exhibit reception for UT Alumnus, Andrew Travis on February 12, 2021. The exhibit is scheduled to run from February 1, through March 6, 2021, at KEEODY. Travis, a self-taught abstract artist is scheduled to showcase his latest work “Leyeon’s Share Case” inspired by Aesop, a Greek storyteller. Travis, whose styles are influenced by Jean-Michel Basquiat, has been thriving the last five years and expanding into new mediums and new venues. The 27-year-old has been featured in many art shows to include, The Incline Art Crawl, The Modern Day Paris Exposition, and Urban Heartbeat.
This showcase will be his second solo art show at KEEODY. As a special part of Leyeon’s Showcase, Travis has included his $100,000.00 painting, Somewhere Out There, which was inspired by “meditation, enlightenment, and the power of transformation.” Travis believes in the motto ‘Keep Up, Stride Home’ meaning keep up with your goals and keep going until your riches match your vision, and he feels this is his way to share his riches with the public.
About the Artist: Andrew Travis, is a native of Paris, TN, but has been in Chattanooga since 2011. An alumnus of The University of Tennessee Chattanooga, Andrew graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. After graduation, Andrew decided to stay in the city to get familiar with the community he embraced during his college experience. A few hobbies that Andrew indulges in are painting, playing his trumpet and drums, writing poetry, and photography. As an aspiring artist, Drew has had two solo art shows, Just Face It Share Case (St. Andrews Center) and Leyeon’s Share Case (Keeody Gallery).
KEEODY is a vessel healing and empowering emerging creatives through exposure. Keeody Art openly offers art, love, and soul to the public in the form of inspired and original mixed-media compositions. The gallery is the brainchild of creative couple Keelah Jackson-Harris and Jody Harris.
